Paul Cezanne, Reflets dans l'eau, um 1896

From the Museum Insel Hombroich. I’d never liked Cezanne much before seeing these watercolors.

The museum includes simple and perfect buildings designed by Erwin Heerich. Here is a tour of the grounds.

summer clouds

from late june 2009

flatfile progress

crayon melted into plaster. the bond is very tight with a smooth finish. crayon is probably no more archival than styrofoam; i guess those are non-issues anyway.

fields

from 38,000 ft.

at sea level.

the project is nearly finished. i’m now working on the background which will be a drawing of the cloud field at top made on a crushed ripple textured paper found at a salvage store.

growing clouds

plaster field poured, bases placed. the waxy colors will be used in striations visible in cross sectioned edge.

forms

cloud forms and cardboard mold for pouring plaster field. for the flatfile.

next project

The next project for the Laundromat gallery flat file at Storefront will based on these

… and will include drawings and an installation of plaster, wood and styrofoam/melted crayon/cotton.
